Joe F. Caraker

	Joe F. Caraker, 78, of DuQuoin, passed away Monday, August 7, 2000 at 6:37 p.m. at his home.
	Mr. Caraker was a Coal Miner and a member of Old DuQuoin Baptist Church.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.  
	He was born February 7, 1922 at Herrin, the son of Thomas and Kate (Presley) Caraker.  He married Altheda June Scarber on August 15, 1946 at Pinckneyville and she survives.
	Surviving are his wife Altheda of DuQuoin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Roy Acuff of Long Lake and Rita and Larry Morgan of Elkville; a son; Robert Berry of Pekin; one brother, John Caraker of West Frankfort; two sisters, Agnas Bush of West Frankfort and Floretta Presley of West Frankfort; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Millie Woolsey; five brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
	Funeral services were Thursday, August 10 at 11 a.m. at Old DuQuoin Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Clark officiating.  Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park at DuQuoin.
	Visitation was at Neal-McClure Funeral Home Wednesday, August 9 from 6 until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 7:30 until 9 a.m. at which time  moved to the church.
	Memorials may be made to Old DuQuoin Baptist Church.
